New Map: The Holy Roman Empire 1648

During the lockdown I worked on a new kind of project: A papercraft map of the Holy Roman Empire in 1648. As you may have seen, maps are nothing new on this site. But this one is special as it is the first non-digital map I created. By doing so I was able to combine my two interests of mapmaking and papercraft into a single project. The resulting map depicts the political landscape in Central Europe after the Thirty Years´ War, mainly fought in the lands of the Holy Roman Empire, and the Dutch Revolt against Spanish rule in the Netherlands.

Just to get it out of the way: This map is not a scientific record as it may be inaccurate. Most of the contained information is based upon the following sources:
